Take me home, country roads: Bygdsiljum stylee
Take Me Home, Country Roads was written by John Denver in the early 70's but someone has just sent me a version sung in Swedish and about Bygdsiljum.
For those interested, the original song was included on his 1971 album Poems, Prayers and Promises (album cover to the right); the single went to #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and is considered the state anthem for West Virginia although it doesn't have official status.
The three state songs for West Virginia, in case you were interested, are The West Virginia Hills, This Is My West Virginia and West Virginia, My Home Sweet Home. All classics.
Elgiganten update: TV still not fixed so back for more repairs
I've had a few emails in about Elgiganten so thought it the right thing to do to update the site about my dealings with them and specifically my Panasonic TV.

Gallery is coming, I hope, soon
It's not that I've forgotten about it, although I sometimes think others might have, but I'm told that the gallery application I want to use is coming soon.
It's an open source component for Joomla, which is what I'm using to run this site so there is little else I can do but wait, unless I want to get my hands dirty with code, which isn't something I have the time to do right now.
No coincidence: Wi-Fi turned off and headache gone
Up until we moved into our new house I'd never used Wi-Fi at home and only ever hooked up when needed to, when not at home. I've never had it at home because it was never needed but with the new house it was.

Updates are coming along with a very special photo page
It's been a while since I've updated this and it's mainly down to the fact that I'm busy, so apologies. There is however a window coming up where I'll be doing very little and I'll dedicate some time to this site.
Most of the time will go on a new gallery as the old one didn't travel very well when I moved server. The new one will however be for registered users only as there is quite a lot of talk over here in Sweden about not putting photo's of your children on the internet.

Joomla has turned into a multi-million dollar industry
Joomla, in case you didn't know is an open source content management system. It started a couple of years ago when the developers of the Mambo content management system didn't agree with what was happening on that project. Mambo is also open source.

Why has Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize?
Sorry if I offend anyone but what has Al Gore done to warrant such an award?
I can understand why Jean Henri Dunant won it for setting up the Red Cross and I can also understand, even if it took a lot or self persuasion why Yasser Arafat won it in 1994, but Al Gore winning it baffles me.
A cursory tale on dealing with Elgiganten
It's not often I get really annoyed with a company that I actually print off all my emails, dig out receipts and store them away in case I lose any of my evidence, but Elgiganten is one of those companies.
I'm not linking to them because they don't deserve it. In fact all I'll say is, if you're living in Sweden and thinking about buying something electronic don't buy it from Elgiganten.
