A virtual beer tasting: Pilsner Urquell

I like blogs and the better blogs are written by people who are really passionate about the subject matter. Beer Sweden is a good blog because Darren, the guys who started it, clearly enjoys beer and you are not just getting some PR spin.

There is nothing wrong with a bit PR, but with a blog you tend to get an honest view from someone and when that someone knows what they are talking about, chances are if something isn´t up to scratch, it actually isn´t up to scratch and you will be told.

The Google car in Bygdsiljum

The Google car has visited Bygdsiljum and you can now drive down one road and to the top of the ski-hill, minus the snow.

You don´t actually get to see much in Bygdsiljum and Google has pretty much missed most, but it´s still pretty cool that you can have a little look. Maybe, in time they will come back.

Final stages of setting up a new ISP

I say setting up a new ISP, but I've sort of decided against reinventing the wheel, unless I have too. You see, when I started out wanting to do this, I was told that it wasn't possible to set up a service for the village and that if we were to be accepted onto the portal to offer a service, we would have to offer it to the entire region. Things are changing though, so our plans have changed also.

Project Bygdsiljum First

A few summers ago everybody in the village where I live were given the option of getting internet access, but at the time, it wasn't a case of a switch getting flicked.

It involved lots of hard work and everyone that wanted a fiber internet connection had to quite literally dig the ditches and lay the fiber throughout the village and up to their house, to get it.

Beer in Sweden and an education on drinking beer

I like my beer, always have and probably always will. I went through a stage recently where I turned away from the beer and concentrated on my wine and it was nice and I've added a two bottles to my list of wine to have stocked, but I'm back to the beer and I've found a new website which is just the ticket.

Beer Sweden is a blog, about beer in Sweden and it is packed with loads of information so if you are like me and you like a beer but don't want to go through them all to find a good one, it's a great little site to get a few ideas.

It´s going to get cold and the snow is coming

When it is summer, I´m looking forward to winter and when it´s winter I look forward to summer. Today, I was told our local cafe is now closing at 6pm instead of the 8pm it does in the summer. Summer is over.

But that doesn´t mean winter is here or that it´s freezing cold or that we will have snow next week, but it is coming and I´m not looking forward to it too much now.

100Mbit up and down connection coming soon!

The internet connection we get in Sweden is excellent and when you consider we're in a very small village, 60km from what would be considered quite a small town in England, and you get a 10Mbit download connection and a 4Mbit upload connection, you can't complain.
