Kubb prize comes back to Bygdsiljum

Team Axelsson were the surprise winners of this years Kubb tournament after beating team Uusijärvi in the final and team Ruth in the semis.

Team Burman went out early to team Uusijärvi. After taking a very early lead they failed to capitalise on team Uusijärvi failing to wake up until the seventh round.

A trip to the Zoo with a photo or two

Yesterday we spent the day at the Zoo. We did this last year and for about the last year the only thing Oskar has spoken about is going back. All good fun.

We did horse riding, driving, circus rides, saw a few wild animals and generally what you'd expect.

Closing down dtowers to go freelance

{mosgoogle}

dtowers was always just a three man band with the occasional contractor but the work is split in such a way now that it seems stupid to have it working out of Sweden, so it's going to get closed down.

It will happen as soon as we know for sure we can do it cheaply but in the meantime we will probably point the website here and put up a contact page for all who were involved.

Midsummer in Sweden: Not just about beer and BBQ

Even if it should be, it's not. This will be my third midsummer in Sweden so I've done a little digging and found some interesting reading on the subject.

Basically it's the biggest event of the year and is always held on the Friday either just before or just after the actual midsummer day, which coincidentally is today.

Global Warming: I'm now convinced!

I'm beginning to think there may be something in this climate change thing after all. Four months ago it was very cold here and now it's quite warm.

Take me home, country roads: Bygdsiljum stylee

The Bygdsiljum Song

Take Me Home, Country Roads was written by John Denver in the early 70's but someone has just sent me a version sung in Swedish and about Bygdsiljum.

For those interested, the original song was included on his 1971 album Poems, Prayers and Promises (album cover to the right); the single went to #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and is considered the state anthem for West Virginia although it doesn't have official status.

The three state songs for West Virginia, in case you were interested, are The West Virginia Hills, This Is My West Virginia and West Virginia, My Home Sweet Home. All classics.

Gallery is coming, I hope, soon

It's not that I've forgotten about it, although I sometimes think others might have, but I'm told that the gallery application I want to use is coming soon.

It's an open source component for Joomla, which is what I'm using to run this site so there is little else I can do but wait, unless I want to get my hands dirty with code, which isn't something I have the time to do right now.

Updates are coming along with a very special photo page

It's been a while since I've updated this and it's mainly down to the fact that I'm busy, so apologies. There is however a window coming up where I'll be doing very little and I'll dedicate some time to this site.

Most of the time will go on a new gallery as the old one didn't travel very well when I moved server. The new one will however be for registered users only as there is quite a lot of talk over here in Sweden about not putting photo's of your children on the internet.
