Google recognise St George's Day

Last year, Google ignored St George's Day and it wound me up a bit, mostly because the excuse was 'there are so many individual days' and that they couldn't recognise every one.

Well, this year they've recognised St George again and as an Englishman living overseas, who still uses Google.co.uk over Google.com, it's nice to see.

The excuse was fairly flimsy also, I mean, it's the national day and as such for Google.co.uk, possibly one of the biggest country specific extensions Google have, they should recognise, as they are today, the national day, every year.

Anyway, the flag is going up today, not that anyone can see it where we live but it's still going up and if you get a minute and you'd quite like today to be a national holiday I'd suggest heading on over to this website, who are fighting for this day to be a holiday and have a petition you can sign.

well, it's up today, below is the image. Well done Google!
