Testing the new 100Mbit internet connection and you just have to be happy
It isn't what they promise but with so many factors influencing exactly what you are going to get it is the reason why they don't guarantee it, but the results are very promising and also more than acceptable, in fact you could so far to say that they are pretty excellent.
Before I decided who to pick based on my questions last week I have to say that only four companies of the seven got back to me. They were Mobile City, Alltele, Brinet and T3. I got an email saying a ticket has been opened for me at Bredband2 but they never replied, Riksnet sent nothing and Bahnhof snet an acknowledgement of the email but again nothing.
So, I picked Alltele and there is a very specific reason; I wanted the new speed and it was the quickest way to get it without incurring charges but had I been able to pick the supplier today and not incur charges it would have been Mobile City, who not only got back to me the quickest, provided the most information, offered more help if I needed it and seemed genuinely interested in the business .
My intention is now to see out my contract with Alltele with a view to moving to Mobile City, specifically for that reason. I have to say also that I've never had an issue with Alltele, apart from cancelling the home telephone line was difficult and they are one of those faceless companies that make you press several numbers into the phone before you get to actually speak to someone, so it's not because of actual service delivery, mostly because Mobile City wanted it more and what I got back from them was much better than Alltele.
Bottom line, you pick who you want to but none of these companies have any impact on the actual service delivered, only support, so I figure they offered what looked like the best level of support so as soon as I can change, I will.
But to my speed tests and I am happy about these; using SpeedTest.net connecting to a server in Finland I got this and was quite happy with my download speed . Using bredbandskollen and connecting to a server in Luleå, about 200km away, I got this and was even happier .
So, while we're not getting anywhere near the 100Mbit up and down they say, you sort of know that isn't going to happen and the results are very impressive. Now I just have to wait to find someone local that has also gone the 100Mbit route so I can test with them and see what we get that way.
I'm probably also going to play with the router, but still, at these speeds, what more do you really want?
