Why has Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize?
Sorry if I offend anyone but what has Al Gore done to warrant such an award?
I can understand why Jean Henri Dunant won it for setting up the Red Cross and I can also understand, even if it took a lot or self persuasion why Yasser Arafat won it in 1994, but Al Gore winning it baffles me.
I'm probably taking the name of the prize to literally. I mean, 'peace' could mean many things to many people, so he probably deserves it for his efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change
The thing is, that has nothing to do with peace. He's doing it because he's still pissed at the big oil companies paying to get their man into the White House in 2000.
Now, I'm probably taking this too far but it was Alfred Noble who said in his will that the prize should be awarded "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses".
Al Gore has done a great job of making people aware of global warming but he's hardly done anything to warrant a prize for peace. Sorry.
